To put it basically, we could have a guild style society. Pretty much everything in the town can be put into a category. Any construction could be the Architectural guild, farming=Agricultural Guild, law people= Judicial Guild, Food prep/storage= Nutritional Guild, tech people= IT Guild, etc. Every "Guild" would elect a representative (someone with the most experience) to voice the needs of their particular key part of town. They would be able to voice what they would need from other guilds in terms of group projects and general town well being.

Say the Agricultural Guild needed a new greenhouse for crops. They would bring their need up in a meeting and voice what they would need from the other guilds. They would need the Architectural guild to build it. Possibly the IT guild to wire it, and the Nutritional Guild to tell them what they need to plant.

I'm sure we could break the town up into seven or so guilds, each of which have a Guild lead/rep to keep everything on track. It would give a sense of structure to everything while maintaining the feeling that the individual's needs are kept in mind.

Thoughts? Feel free to be critical.

That could lead to different guilds becoming their own sub-community.
Guild members would view their guild leader as their leader over the council.
I think a town hall setting with a council elected by the people would be a better idea.

I believe we need to have a council of 7 or 11 members, with direct democracy dictating.

I meant it as a town hall setting. Sorry if I didn't articulate that part quite well. As far as guild members viewing their guild leader as the leader over the council, I don't see that as a bad thing per se. They would just be looking to the Representative that embodies themselves more. Personally, I would find it a lot harder to be butt hurt if the council shot down my idea if someone with more experience in my job (someone who knows the challenge I personally face on a daily basis) said it wasn't the way it should be. Every "Guild Lead" would be equals of course. I'm not saying one job is more important that the other or anything. The Leads would have to agree on things and would be able to keep each other in check.

I can just see some issues with some members on a council who have no idea the challenges that go into maintaining a farm or high speed internet access for an entire town blindly voting when an issue comes up.

I'm just afraid of a situation where on guild goes on strike when they don't get their way.
For example, if the food guild didn't get what they wanted they could stop providing food. This would make the food guild the most powerful guild. The other leaders may feel the need to appease the food guild leader so that everyone can eat.

it should be a town council (highest rank)
subgroups (lower rank)
this way when a new law/sub law is sugested it is first seen by the subgroup that has something to do with that subject, then when they have seen it and posibly changed it a bit it is sent to the town council where they either accept the law, or denie it
if the law is denied it is send back to the subgroup where they alter the law and then give it to the town council
this proces is continued a maximum of 3 times counting the first.

ofcource there would also need to be voted on the law by a bigger group of people.
that would be all the subgroups and the town council

the town council should consist of one or two people from each subgroup.
